Nativity Bereavement Committee Meeting

When:   Tuesday, July 2 at 10:00 AM
Where:  Nativity Rectory Dining Room

We need help for a very special ministry that assists fellow parishioners plan the Funeral or Memorial Mass for their loved ones.

The ministry involves contacting the family after they have scheduled a Funeral or Memorial Mass and helping them choose bible readings and hymns for the Mass from Nativity’s Funeral Planning Booklet. It also involves gathering information about the life of the parishioner's loved one, to help the priest personalize the homily and connect the person’s life to the readings and hymns that were selected. Once these selections are made and important information gathered, you send a completed Planning Sheet and Personal Information to the priest celebrant and the Funeral Ministry Team.

From Deacon Tom, "After my initial nervousness about speaking to families at such a difficult time, I have personally found this to be a very rewarding ministry. Listening to the family tell stories about their loved one helped to connect me with that family both personally and spiritually, in a deeper way than I thought possible. God may be calling you to offer His consolation to your fellow parishioners in this beautiful ministry."

Please join us at Nativity’s Rectory on Tuesday, July 2 at 10:00 AM for an informational meeting about this ministry, the Nativity Bereavement Committee.

Thank You and God Bless You!
Fr. Tom
