Each month students at SMS adopt a virtue to learn about and embody. At the end of the month, students from each grade are recognized for their ability to live out that virtue.
The virtue of the month for September is temperance. St. ThÊrèse of Lisieux exercised temperance in the small annoyances of her day as a way of pleasing Jesus. So when a sister in her community grumbled, St. ThÊrèse smiled and chatted cheerfully with her, or when a lunch companion mentioned being thirsty, St. ThÊrèse offered her the last gulp of cider in the pitcher. We, too, can be on the lookout for these little moments to practice temperance.

"Just make a mark, and see where it takes you." Mrs. Genovese, our amazing art teacher here at SMS helps students of all ages discover their artistic talents. Students have been creating this evolving, collaborative bulletin board in our main hallway, based on the book "The Dot", by Peter H. Reynolds, and it's turning into quite the masterpiece!

Fr. Art, one of the priests from our family of parishes, celebrated our Friday school Mass this morning. He commended the lectors from our 8th grade, the altar servers, and beautiful singing from our entire student body!
SMS students are blessed with opportunities to participate in school Mass on a weekly basis.
Correction: OKTOBERFEST is NEXT Saturday evening, SEPTEMBER 30, 5:30- 9:00, in the gym. Adults 21+ are invited. Admission $5/person, BYO snacks welcome, fun German food for purchase, beer/wine, music by the Frankfurters. Oopa!

We had a surprise visit from one of our family priests today. Fr. Art introduced himself to our students while visiting classrooms. We are excited that we now know him as he will be celebrating Mass with us tomorrow. We also learned that he is a big Buffalo Bills fan...GO BILLS!

SMS 8th graders joined fellow 8th graders from all over the Diocese for a special Mass celebrated by Bishop Mike at St. Joseph's Cathedral.

The SMS swim team had their first meet yesterday and did amazing! 11 swimmers received all star times for their events- way to go Bees! đđŚ
We are so blessed to have Profe Maria as our new Spanish teacher here at St. Mary School! She sees all of our K-8 students, even our little ones in Montessori. She can be seen & heard all around the classrooms with her guitarra (guitar) & marionetas (puppets); Pepe the monkey and Sunshine the duck. Pepe has been helping the kindergarten class learn their colors in Spanish & when heâs done, he takes a nap in Profe Mariaâs bag! đđđŚ
Students in grades 6-12 are invited to St. Mary's BREAKthrough "Stress Dump" on Monday, September 18th, 6:30-8 PM in the gym. BREAKthrough Youth Nights are an opportunity for Middle School through High School teens to grow in faith through games, interactive activities, prayer, food and conversation. Friends are welcome too! They do not have to belong to St. Mary's to join us!

Mrs. Kotlikâs Kindergartners did a wonderful job helping their rubber duckies follow directions during a Math lesson. đĽ The children had to help their duckies go above their friendsâ heads, inside their seat sacks, beneath their tables, in between a pencil & a supply box & so much more using positional words. After that, they used magnifying glasses to help them describe where objects were at the beach. Great job, Kindergarten & rubber duckies! đđđđđ¤đ
