Leaky cups, bounce houses, relays, hot dogs, bees, & volleyball were just part of the fun at our annual HSA School Picnic! Faith Families competed against each other for the glory & honor of winning the day's competitions. Congratulations to Mrs. Bishop's St. Joan of Arc Faith Family for coming in 3rd place overall, Mrs. Baker's St. Thomas Aquinas Faith Family came in 2nd place, and Mr. Dolan's St. Vincent de Paul Faith Family members were declared the winners of the 2025 HSA Picnic!
The day wrapped up with a pep rally hosted by 4th grader, Patrick H., dressed as our school mascot, & the traditional 8th grade vs. the faculty volleyball game! Our Class of 2025 had a little help from a friend - Fr. Peter! The 8th grade came out victorious over the teachers & staff despite their best efforts - way to go 8th grade!
A big thank you to the SMS alumni who showed up to serve food, volunteer at the games, & referee, score & announce the volleyball game!

We'd like to wish all Fathers, Grandfathers, Stepfathers, Foster Fathers, Godfathers, and Father figures a Happy Father's Day!
A Prayer For Fathers
Heavenly Father,
you entrusted your Son Jesus,
the child of Mary,
to the care of Joseph, an earthly father.
Bless all fathers
as they care for their families.
Give them strength and wisdom,
tenderness and patience;
support them in the work they have to do,
protecting those who look to them,
as we look to you for love and salvation,
through Jesus Christ
our rock and defender.
Amen.

đ¤ How would you like to build your own MANSION... out of MARSHMALLOWS? That's exactly what Mrs. Picone's 1st graders did in this engineering challenge! Students had to draw out a plan for how they would use marshmallows & toothpicks to create the tallest structure they could. It also had to stand on its own! After they built their structures they thought about what other materials they could use to make their mansions bigger & stronger. What a sweet project!

đ¤ What do you want to be when you grow up? Our grade 4 & 5 students have some great answers to this question! After taking aptitude tests to identify their potential skills & interests, students chose careers to research & present reports on. They came up with costumes, props & posters to aid their presentations, which were open to friends & family during a "career fair" at SMS last week. Check out more photos of the event here: https://tinyurl.com/3k3m5jxv

đđ The SMS Class of 2025 enjoyed dinner, bowling, & camaraderie at their "Bees Banquet" last week, held at Transit Lanes! This end of the school year tradition for our 7th & 8th grade classes & their families, formerly known as the 8th grade dinner dance, is an opportunity for our students to celebrate together with friends and look back on their time at St. Mary School before graduation. A great time was had by all, click the link to see more photos: https://tinyurl.com/3jrvmvy4

đĽOften called the birthday of the Church, we celebrated Pentecost this weekend! Pentecost is the day the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles like tongues of fire. Mrs. Bishop's grade 3 Religion class completed "Pentecost Portraits" in celebration of the liturgical feast day.
We celebrate Pentecost to remember that God is not distant. The Holy Spirit is God's gift of presence-living within us, guiding us, comforting us, & empowering us. In a world that can feel chaotic and weary, Pentecost reminds us that we are not alone. The Spirit is moving, & there is always more grace to receive!

The 3rd and 4th graders went out with a glow! To celebrate the last full Friday of the school year, our amazing students enjoyed a Math & ELA station glow party to review for final exams! They even created their own custom t-shirts and had classmates sign them as keepsakes!

First graders made "Spirit Streamers" after learning about Pentecost. They enjoyed making wind and emulating the tongues of fire over their heads!
