Our a-MAZE-ing Kindergartners had fun constructing marble mazes this past week out of Legos! This #STREAM activity helps introduce even our youngest students to the engineering design process, especially when they learn to test and improve their designs! If you're interested in exploring all the ways St. Mary School gives families MORE, call us to schedule a school tour at 716-689-8424. We are currently accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Learn more and apply by visiting our website: https://www.stmaryschoolswormville.org/ #Kindergarten #SMStheplacetoBEE

Montessori students visited "Profe's Market" this week. They are learning the Spanish words for different types of fruit, and colors! Learning about real-life situations in a playful and fun way is a key component of the Montessori teaching style, while foreign language study enhances listening skills and memory, as well as allowing for more effective participation in a multi-cultural world.
If you're interested in a Montessori style Pre-K experience for your child, in a nurturing, Catholic atmosphere, call us to schedule a school tour at 716-689-8424. We're getting ready to dress up next week for our SMS #spiritweek, so we thought this early 90's #ThrowbackThursday image was appropriate! Feel free to tag any SMS alumni you recognize, or maybe a current parish staff member! 😊#StMarys175

Reminder: tomorrow is an early dismissal (11:30 am), and no school lunches will be served. Please join us at the HSA Ice Skating Party tomorrow afternoon from 1:30 - 2:30 pm!

Mrs. Wojtaszek's class learned about worry dolls in Math. This is a Guatemalan tradition. Mrs. Leong thought it would be a fun project for them to take on in Makerspace. The idea is to tell the doll your worries before you go to bed, then place the doll under your pillow. When you wake in the morning, your worries have been taken away by the doll!

Our 4th grade LEGO Club students got creative today! They constructed their first names in 2D and 3D, then incorporated them into a LEGO city scape.

We're excited to show how much we love St. Mary School Swormville next week during #SpiritWeek! SMS parents, please see the schedule below for all of our special activities. #SMStheplacetoBEE

Our 4th graders completed an “around the room” activity about prayer this week. They read and reflected on various Scripture passages and saint quotes, and were able to apply these to their own lives. #CatholicEd

Mr. Dolan's 8th grade US History students have been discussing propaganda and made their own posters.

Congrats to SMS 6th grader Lydia Marren on skating her way to a bronze medal this past weekend at the Empire State Winter Games in Lake Placid! Lydia, a member of the Amherst Skating Club, earned a silver medal in the competition last year. She is pictured here with her family.

For our #CatholicSchoolsWeek Friday am gathering before Mass, Mrs. D'Angelo shared a video of the story of The Good Samaritan with students, and asked them to think of how they can show #Charity and #Love to others, as those are our February virtues. #CharacterEd #Virtues
