SMS 8th grader Billy Dillemuth has been busy... with basketball! Billy plays with Amherst Youth Basketball and two travel teams in addition to the SMS Varsity squad, and has racked up 76 games overall this season! Billy has helped his teams to championships and tournament wins, along with a 10-0 season and a division title for SMS. Billy received an athletic scholarship to St. Mary’s High School in Lancaster, and will be playing for their JV Basketball team next year. Our grades 3 & 4 "Lady Bees" Basketball team held it's end-of-season team party last night! Award certificates were handed out to exemplary players, and they even had a little fun with a Moms vs. girls pick-up game! Thank you to all of our parent volunteer coaches!

Yesterday, Jackson and Billy played in the Grammar School All-Star game at St Mary's High School. Way to represent guys! The league also provided SMS with our team's WNYCESAA Bishop Turner Division Champions trophy.

Students made triptychs in honor of #StJoseph with Mrs. Bishop in Religion today. Triptychs date back to the Middle Ages, adorning the altarpieces of churches. Relaying stories of the bible and aiding prayer, they are an important way to visualize Christianity & show devotion.

Miss Reeves' 7th grade students explored static electricity with balloons, their hair, and the walls. They discussed how electrons were transferred between the objects causing their findings with the balloons.

Miss Sanderson's 3rd graders recently completed writing pieces on what they "treasure more than gold". Their responses included friends, Jesus, family, cousins, our planet, food, water, pets & animals, their homes, sports, and teachers. #treasured #morethangold #thirdgrade

An educator from the Buffalo Zoo visited our 1st & 2nd grade Science classes this week, & showed students real skins, eggs, nests, & a LIVE box turtle named "Turtlini". The zoo program will continue for the next few weeks and culminate with a zoo field trip for grades 1 & 2!

Our Montessori students have been learning some parables that teach about the Kingdom of God. This one demonstrated the parable of the leaven.
