Today marks the beginning of the first week of #Advent, and our theme for the week is Hope. With the beginning of the new liturgical year, the story of our salvation has circled back to its starting point: the expectation and #HOPE of the Messiah.

"Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love & his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty & fills the hungry with good things."

There is still time to contribute to our "Help for the Homeless" post-Thanksgiving food & supply drive! PLEASE BRING ITEMS TO SCHOOL BY TOMORROW, TUES., NOV. 26th
Homelessness makes daily living challenging - everyday activities such as eating & maintaining basic hygiene become difficult tasks to accomplish. As a school family we are endeavoring to help the homeless to meet their basic needs after the hot Thanksgiving meal of turkey and stuffing is over. For more information on the items we are asking for, click here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WylN50h09Hgeew7d85s7Oq1sjpLW-fQo/view

Mrs. Picone's 1st graders are making sure there's no fowl play when it comes to punctuation! Students practiced adding question marks or periods to sentences based on whether the sentence was asking or telling something. Great job #grade1! #punctuationpractice #properpunctuation

Grade 5 students recently completed these beautiful self-portraits after reading the novel "Wonder", by R. J. Palacio. Wonder tells the story of 10 year old Augie's first year going to school. Born with a rare craniofacial condition that necessitated multiple major surgeries, Augie was homeschooled for much of his childhood. The book explores the themes of the difficulty of kindness, independence & growing up, status & bullying, & developing one's identity.
Thank you Mrs. Genovese (Art) & Mrs. Laderer (grade 5) for facilitating this wonderful cross-curricular project!

The class performed their first reader's theater and did an outstanding job!

Mrs. Genovese has been weaving Native American Heritage Month into her Art classes this November! Native American weaving is a centuries-old art form that represents tribal histories & is a fundamental way for Native American tribes to express strength & courage. Weavings often include symbols that represent war, struggle, & strength. Colors can indicate parts of the country where the weaving came from and if it was woven by a man or woman.
